A 14-year-old teenager, found murdered in her bedroom. A day later, the decomposing body of the family servant, found on the terrace. Her father arrested, mother interrogated, unfounded police allegations of immorality.
For over a month, it makes newspaper and television headlines. Every statement scrutinized, every development examined intensively , even obsessively , as crime is seen as a good weapon to battle TRP ratings in our country.
Welcome to Crime Capital India.
Recent shocking reports show that our national capital is becoming a crime capital and India has recorded 32000 incidents of murders during 2007-2008, which is thrice as Pakistan and twice as USA. . Riots, murders, massacre, manslaughter…everything leading to a catastrophic future.
In a country where family values and culture are being taught as mantra for children, stories like these simply question our future and our family ethics. Noida is just an example.
Father raping daughter or a 45-year-old man’s illegal connection is not happening for the first time in our country. Many cases related to these issues are waiting for verdict in all city high courts. But the rate at which these murders are rising is something that worries our police and also common people. This doubts our basic family value system. India once known for its heritage and culture is now talked for all the wrong reasons.
Four murders in 10 days. Two gang rapes on national highway in a span of two months and to top it all we had a psychopath killing hundreds of children, which rocked Noida six months before. All these only strike the fault in our system. This alarming graph doesn’t get anything to a standstill. While police are busy investigating, media who are constantly on the look out for these types of cases grabs the viewer’s eyeball by happily reconstructing the incidents thereby worsening the situation. However our common citizen is happily roaming the streets of India either worrying about cricket or waiting for his Actor’s movie release.
Well I can’t blame aam junta for that as media has managed successfully to keep the viewers engaged with its live shows of reporters discussing it for hours. Again thanks to orkut and few other social groups where our aam junta can post their condolences or opinions on these issues. Be it Jessica lal or Aarushi, their lives are just a google click away.
These issues raise few ethical questions. But are there any real answers? Despite the efforts taken by the police, crimes are still continuing to haunt the city. While Government is busy in battling the inflation, N-deal etc, the responsibility lies in the hands of fourth estate and people like us. The responsibility of doing nothing but watching it helplessly.
Welcome to crime capital India.

All this can be reduced only when a child is properly fed with moral values of life! Live, let live. What are the thoughts our kids will be having? Homework, school, playstation, movies, parents, etc. Ahhh. Why do we lead a selfish life like this and why do we spoil the next generation too? I see thousands of mothers in this world who just thinks in this way! Nothing wrong to think about their kids, but don't make them hard hearted.
Give your children about what is self discipline and morals needed in life. We really hide these things and live in this world. Children's mind are like a fresh white paper. Right from the time they grow up, all the instincts will be written in the mind and it will be reflection for their entire life. So, all we need to do is to give them the moral values of life and atleast be a good human infront of your children alone.
Hi...
Read ur post on rising crime rate. Nice to see a journalist/reporter acknowledge that media is keeping its viewers glued on to their channel and have ensured high TRPs, by constantly reporting these stories.
Anyway… those cartoons on bloging were good ones…
